BIRD BATHS
You can attract a wider variety of birds with a birdbath since not all birds
are seedeaters. Fresh clean water can often be difficult for birds to come
by. So why not give birds an oasis to visit.
When deciding what kind of birdbath to have consider the following:
Birds prefer a shallow bath, usually a maximum of 3 feet deep. A concrete bath
usually invites more birds. This is because concrete provides a surface
where the birds will not slip.
BIRD FEEDERS
There are two types of birds you can attract; junk birds or beautiful birds.
These so-called junks birds consist of English sparrows, blackbirds,
grackles and starlings. Junk birds drive away colorful rare birds such as
cardinals, goldfinches, bluebirds and orioles.
There are a number of feeders to choose from. You want to make sure your
feeder attracts your desired bird. A tube feeder comes in various sizes.
Make sure to find one that has smaller perches for the birds to rest on.
This will make it more difficult for the larger junk birds to take the stage
away from the preferred birds. Keep in mind that black birds and starlings
eat from tray feeders. You can mix seeds in a tube feeder to draw in certain
birds. Thistle seed is a very appetizing food for many beautiful birds.
Goldfinches, pine siskins and other magnificent birds will flock to this
type of seed. Do your research and you will soon have an incredible
spectacle to view.
