APHIDS: Inside plants can sometimes be successfully treated by rinsing them under a gentle flow of tap water. Another successful measure is rubbing alchohol, though your more delicate plants such as the african violet should not be treated this way. Outside plants can be treated much the same way, using a light mist from the hose, or washing with alchohol. Another trick is the use of aluminum foil on the surface of the soil or mulch; the reflection is reported to confuse the aphids and drive them away.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Planting onions, chives and garlic among your plants is a healthy way to deter aphids.
